Cubbon Park to get 800 smart LED lights

"Two of the proposed 50 LED screens have been installed at Cubbon Park on an experimental basis. "We will install smart display screens and integrate them with the environmental sensors, which will help display pollution levels. The screens will also provide details of various events at Cubbon Park and explain the heritage of the park, besides spreading awareness about the dos and don'ts while inside the park. BENGALURU: Soon the lights in Cubbon Park will automatically brighten or dim based on the movement of people in the park, the time of the day and the season, thanks to the over 800 smart LED lights fitted with motion sensors and environmental sensors currently being installed there.The lights, which can be monitored from a centralised control system, are programmable according to seasonal variations. The motion sensors will also enable the lights to stay dim when there is no movement of people inside the park, said officials of Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom), which is executing the smart lighting project in Cubbon Park.On the other hand, the environmental sensors will help the lights dim during long summer days.

They will brighten earlier in the evening during rainy and winter season when the days are shorter, they added."We will install smart display screens and integrate them with the environmental sensors, which will help display pollution levels. The screens will also provide details of various events at Cubbon Park and explain the heritage of the park, besides spreading awareness about the dos and don'ts while inside the park. Free Wi-Fi will also be provided to visitors as part of the project," said Anil Kumar D'Souza, DGM, Technology Innovation Centre, Bescom."Two of the proposed 50 LED screens have been installed at Cubbon Park on an experimental basis. The rest will be installed in the coming week. The communication system will be tested next month, said Bescom officials.
