The first of these boards had gone up on either sides of the Hebbal-Yelahanka flyover stretch and were later installed in other parts of the city.Police say that most of the cars are found speeding and these speed signboards help to keep them in check and reduce their speed. These boards have the ability to read and display the speed of a vehicle from a distance of 50 metres.According to the statistics provided by the city traffic police, in 2017, 1,30,868 lakh cases of speeding were booked while the number came down to 90,942 cases in 2018.“The RSS is a new technology and it has been very effective in bringing down cases of speeding,” he said.As many as 799 accident cases have been registered this year till February 28, out of which 110 were fatal accidents and 689 were non-fatal leaving 734 injured.Surprisingly, the signboard installed at Kodigehalli was part of the first installment of signboards that had been installed on the Airport road, by theTraffic Police.
