Gift stores with greeting cards, social media updates with special images and customised brunches in restaurants are all a part of way to wish the strongest person we ever know. Father’s Day is such a wonderful occasion as it helps us reminisce the memorable moments that we share with our dads. As part of this special day, we spoke to sons and daughters in the city who are ensuring that they spend time with their dads today. Aishwarya Pandey, digital analyst from UP, working in the city says, “My father lives in UP and I lead a very busy life with my husband, home and work. But whenever I talk to my father, I miss him a lot. We are very similar as we are both witty and forgive people easily too. We both laugh at the same things. Our chat sessions can continue endlessly. And with his support and trust, I feel I can achieve anything in my life when he is by my side.” He made me dance in the middle of a fair when I was a five-year-old. I’m not just his daughter, I’m his son too.” Bonding with your dad can also lead to amusing moments. For instance, Tomy Manuel, a techie talks about the time when he and his dad were together at a cyber cafe in the city. “We switched on the system in the cyber cafe and some random porn site popped up. That was our most embarrassing moment together. Then we had to shift to another cabin. Thankfully, we have not had any other weird moments. My dad always makes me feel that he is available and accessible. Also, we both are big foodies. While he is a serious person, he is enthusiatic and is ready to make sacrifices for our family.” Manish Kumar, a German language specialist in an MNC regrets the fact that he does not talk to his dad as much as he ought too. He says, “I hardly talk to my dad. But the moment I call I can sense the happiness in his tone. We have varied discussions ranging from family, neighbours, money and career options too. I never followed this culture of celebrating Fathers Day. But after I started earning, I bought him a shirt and I saw the love and happiness in his eyes. His moral support gives me all the strength I need especially since I live away from home.” But not everyone is blessed to have their dad by their side. Vinod Kumar, a student says, “I have immense respect for all fathers because I never felt my dad’s touch, words, his anger or happiness. My family is complete with him and I feel this loss deeply. I respect my friends dads and observe those minute things that they do for their sons or daughters. Those moments give me immense happiness and of course tears at the same time.”
