Foundation was weak, to blame for collapse, says Mayor

By Express News ServiceBENGALURU: Mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun visited the accident spot on the early hours of Monday. She said, “After inspecting the spot with the zonal engineers and Joint Commisioner East Zone, we understood that the foundation of apartments were not laid properly. The building is made on low soil and as such could not stand in this kind of soil. The project was poorly designed without specifications, the need to check the soil bearing capacity, and how much could the building stand. The moisture is also too high near the building which led to the collapse.
