Police arrest Congress corporator’s husband in Bengaluru violence case

Bengaluru Police has arrested Kaleem Pasha, husband of Congress corporator from Nagwara ward Irshad Begum in connection with the violence that broke out on August 11 night. With this, the total number of arrested people connected with the violence has gone upto 206.

According to Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Kaleem Pasha allegedly visited KG Halli Police Station on Tuesday evening, before the violence broke out and allegedly instigated the mob to resort to violence. However, he allegedly left the spot as soon as protesters began pelting stones at the police station. Pasha is also said to have close political links with both the Congress party and SDPI.

On August 11, angry mobs attacked the house of Pulakeshinagar MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy over an alleged derogatory social media post by the Congress leader`s relative. The mob thrashed the Congress MLAs residence with DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations.
