Farmers, Labourers and Dalit organisations protest outside Karnataka Vidhana Soudha

The Farmers, labourers and dalits came together on Monday with various other organisations and held a protest outside the Karnataka legislature session that began today in the Vidhana Soudha.

They were protesting against amendments to the Land Reforms Act, the APMC Act and various labour laws.

Karnataka assembly Leader of Opposition and Congress stalwart Siddaramaiah also registered  his opposition over the Central government, recently passed, three controversial farmer-related laws — The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020; The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Ordinance, 2020; and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020.

The legislature session begins in the Vidhana Soudha on Monday 11 am amid unprecedented safety measures in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. The session is scheduled to conclude on September 30.
