New reports claim that the Chief Minister is said to have taken the decision with an intention of one minister handling the related portfolios - Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education - amid the pandemic.

The State Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has been taken away from B Sriramulu and is handed over to Medical Education minister K Sudhakar. This reshuffle came in the midst of a continuous surge of Covid-19 cases in Karnataka.

As per the recent order signed by Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala, B Sriramulu has been divested from both the Health Ministry and the Backward Classes Welfare Department. CM BS Yediyurappa has retained the Backward Classes Welfare Department. B Sriramulu is now given the charge of the Social Welfare Department.

Sudhakar had successfully contested from Chikkaballapura after switching sides to the BJP from the Congress last year. “I’m grateful to the CM and the state leadership for entrusting me with this additional charge. With the Medical Education and Health Departments working in tandem, better decisions can be made and implemented without much ado,” he said.
