The All India Council for Technical Education has extended the deadline for engineering admissions in Karnataka till January 15.

The All India Council for Technical Education has extended the deadline for engineering admissions in Karnataka till January 15.

With this, another round of counselling will be held. “The counselling date will be announced soon by the Karnataka Examinations Authority,” said minister for higher education CN Ashwath Narayan.

With this, students who do not want their already secured seats get a chance to surrender them. However, those who will opt for a seat in the upcoming mop-up round will not get another chance to return it. They will have to pay the fee and get admitted to the college or pay the fine amount five times the fees.

The Karnataka government had written to the AICTE following requests from students to conduct one more round of counselling so that they could be given a last chance to choose from the leftover courses.

Further, the Karnataka Unaided Private Education Colleges Association had also requested that the last date be extended. As per the earlier approval, December 31 was the last date.
