Border clashes after the endpoints are blocked between Kerala and Karnataka.

After the government`s decision to mandate RT-PCR test reports for entry in the state from Kerala has led to protests and tensions along the border after hundreds of people were sent back by the officials.

The ‘No-Entry’ by the Karnataka government in the border areas for those opting for road transport is because of the high Covid-19 caseload in Kerala. The decision has affected hundreds of traders and employees who travel on a daily basis.

The stand-off between the two states over allowing people during the pandemic had become a bone of contention between the two earlier during the first wave of COVID-19 in 2020. The issue was then dragged to the Supreme Court which questioned the Karnataka government following which the people were allowed to travel to the neighboring state.

The Karnataka revenue and transport authorities have set up barricades in 18 interior border roads connecting the two states.
