Rudresh’s murder a pre-planned act of terror: NIA chargesheet

BENGALURU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said in a chargesheet that RSS worker Rudresh's murder was a planned act of terror and that the attackers had planned to kill two other RSS workers as well.The chargesheet was filed before the special NIA court in Bengaluru on Friday. The statement, however, continued to claim that the attack was aimed at preventing people from joining the RSS and that the accused were also indoctrinated to believe that the murder was an act of jihad. Rudresh was hacked to death on December 12, 2016 at Kamaraj Road by two-bike borne men in full public view.In an official statement after the submission of the chargesheet , the NIA said the murder was pre-planned and that there were meetings before executing the plan . "NIA investigation had established that the accused and others had conspiracy meetings prior to the terror act near Aksa Masjid and near Chota Charminar in Bengaluru in the month of September 2016," the NIA said.The murder was an act of terror meant to strike fear among a section people and it managed to do so, it claimed.Five men — Irfan Pasha, 32, Waseem Ahmed , 32, Mohammad Sadiq , 35, Mohammed Mujeeb Ulla, 46 and Asim Sheriff, 40, were arrested by Bengaluru police before the case was handed over to NIA.Although NIA claimed the five men in custody planned to kill at least two more RSS workers, no details of these plans were specified.
