“The family is apologetic, as the security guard was wrongly accused. The mother complained to police, after the victim told her it was the security guard who did it. The security guard was later subjected to intense grilling by the police. Twice, the victim identified one security guard. The victim, an LKG student in a private school, had vomited and was feeling uneasy after returning from school.

more-in CCTV footage recovered from the school has shown that the security guard, who was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly molesting a four-year-old girl, was innocent of the charges. While the four-year-old girl from a private school, her mother and the doctor claimed that the child was sexually assaulted, the CCTV footage shows that the guard was not the perpetrator. The victim, an LKG student in a private school, had vomited and was feeling uneasy after returning from school. Her mother took her to the doctor, who after talking to the victim and examination, confirmed sexual assault. The mother complained to police, after the victim told her it was the security guard who did it. Based on her complaint, the police rounded up five security guards of the school and sent their photoes to the victim for identification. Twice, the victim identified one security guard. The security guard was later subjected to intense grilling by the police. Meanwhile, the police, who obtained CCTV footage from the school for technical evidence, found that the victim’s movement was recorded throughout and the security guard was nowhere near her. Puzzled, the police questioned the mother, who confessed that she had suspected the assault and her daughter had confirmed it. A senior police officer told The Hindu that the mother was teaching her daughter the difference between “good touch” and “bad touch”, which had led to the confusion. “The family is apologetic, as the security guard was wrongly accused. The family is now withdrawing the complaint and also issuing a clarification in this regard,” he said.
