Joyride turns fatal for teenager, two injured

Srinivas, who was driving Innova, hit road median and jumped to the opposite side, colliding with a milk tanker. As the vehicles approached Silk Board, they lost control due to over speeding while coming down the flyover.

According to the police, the teenager lost control of the car and hit his friends’ vehicles, before crashing into the road median. In the impact, the victim’s head snapped from his body. His friends also lost control of their vehicles and one ended up jumping the median and colliding with a milk tanker coming from the opposite direction, causing it to topple. The other also rammed into the median. Miraculously the two escaped with minor injuries. The police said that the cars were being driven at a speed of 150 kmph. The deceased has been identified as Arfan (16) son of Saleem, a businessman and his classmates Srinivas, son of Govindraju, and Anirudh, son of Krishnamurthy. Both parents are IT employees. All the three are PUC first year students studying in a private college and residents of HSR Layout, the police said. A senior police officer said that the incident occurred around 3 a.m. They had gone to Electronic City and the accident occurred while they were returning back. As the vehicles approached Silk Board, they lost control due to over speeding while coming down the flyover. Arfan, after hitting his friends’ cars, crashed the Skoda car into the road median and died on the spot. Srinivas, who was driving Innova, hit road median and jumped to the opposite side, colliding with a milk tanker. Anirudh, who was driving Maruthi Swift Dzire, rammed the car into the divider. The milk tanker driver disappeared from the scene and is believed to be unhurt, the police said. Senior police officers rushed to the spot and supervised the investigations. They have summoned the parents of the boys to the police station for questioning. The parents will be booked for death due to negligence, a senior police officer said.
