State invites corporates to take up CSR initiatives

The Karnataka Tourism Department, in association with NGO United Way of Bengaluru, held a round-table discussion with various city-based corporates on Monday to discuss CSR initiatives companies could partake in. Mr. Gupta unveiled the logo for Nandi Habba, an eco-friendly festival scheduled for later this year, at the conference. On behalf of the State government, Gaurav Gupta, principal secretary of Tourism, IT and BT, invited corporates to be part of CSR initiatives that could benefit Karnataka, in the fields of environmental conservation, education and preservation of archaeological heritage. United Way of Bengaluru has been involved in the revival of 16 lakes in the city, said Manish Michael, Chief Executive Officer. “We are an initiative to bring the government, NGOs and corporates on one platform. Most of CSR happening in India today is in silos. we wanted to discuss how all stakeholders can come together to make a long-term impact,” said Mr. Michael. Around 55 corporates based out of the city were invited for the programme. Mr. Gupta unveiled the logo for Nandi Habba, an eco-friendly festival scheduled for later this year, at the conference.
