Former minister and SAD general secretary (Youth Affairs) Bikram Singh Majithia stated this while visiting the family of Jagsir in Mansa. It may be recalled that one of these children had also participated in the protest lodged by families of suicide victims in front of Vidhan Sabha in February. “Thousands acres under paddy crop was inundated across the state due to the apathetic attitude of the state government. The SAD leader listened to villagers at Gurdwara Hall and assured them of taking up their crop loss in the Vidhan Sabha. Majithia also paid condolences to the family of SGPC member Lakhbir Singh Arraiyanwala who passed away recently at Arraiyanwala village in Faridkot district.

Bathinda, July 23 The Shiromani Akali Dal on Tuesday said the Congress government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had betrayed the youth by going back on its “ghar ghar naukari” promise, which led to the tragic suicide by highly educated youth Jagsir Singh of Chak Bhaike in Mansa district. Former minister and SAD general secretary (Youth Affairs) Bikram Singh Majithia stated this while visiting the family of Jagsir in Mansa. He said it was the first time in the history of the state that such an highly educated youth, who was a postgraduate, MPhil and even UGC NET scholar, ended his life. Majithia said what was more painful was that Jagsir was forced to work as a labourer to fund the studies of his two sisters. He urged the grief-stricken family to be strong in this hour of despair and assured that Jagsir’s death would not go in vain. Bikram said, “We will raise the issue in the Vidhan Sabha and force the government to give an appropriate compensation to Jagsir’s family, besides demanding the start of Rs 2,500 per month unemployment allowance to the jobless youth.” He said this was the second such death in the area after Harmandeep of Teuna Pujara village. “We will force the government to fulfil the promises made to the youth,” he added. Majithia also provided monetary help to the family of a farmer who had committed suicide at Ganga Ablu village in Bathinda district as the SAD had promised that it would bear education expenses of both children Manmeet and Hardeep. It may be recalled that one of these children had also participated in the protest lodged by families of suicide victims in front of Vidhan Sabha in February. On the occasion, Majithia slammed the Congress government for forcing farmers to take the extreme step by backtracking on its loan waiver promise. “Thousands acres under paddy crop was inundated across the state due to the apathetic attitude of the state government. It did not take preventive measures to tame the seasonal rivers like Ghaggar,” he stated. The SAD leader listened to villagers at Gurdwara Hall and assured them of taking up their crop loss in the Vidhan Sabha. Farmers of affected villages like Ganga Ablu, Daan Singh Wala, Mehma Sarkari, Mehma Swayi, Mehma Serja, Kothe Chet Singh Wale and Barkandi apprised the SAD leader of the crop loss caused by recent rains and complained that the state government was silent over the issue of providing compensation for the crop loss. Majithia also paid condolences to the family of SGPC member Lakhbir Singh Arraiyanwala who passed away recently at Arraiyanwala village in Faridkot district.
