CPI (M) seeks debt waiver for farmers

Bathinda, October 16A delegation headed by district secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) (Marxist) Gurdev Singh Bandi submitted a memorandum, addressed to the Chief Minister, to the Deputy Commissioner here on Wednesday. In the memorandum, they sought steps to eradicate drugs from the state. They also demanded complete debt waiver for farmers who are unable to repay their loan. The delegation members urged the Chief Minister to roll back the hike in power tariff and cancel the agreements done with private companies. In their memorandum, the delegation members sought restoration of government thermal plants and recruitment of staff in the power sector.

In the memorandum, they sought steps to eradicate drugs from the state. They demanded that big fishes involved in it should be put behind bars, besides treatment and rehabilitation for addicts. They also demanded complete debt waiver for farmers who are unable to repay their loan. The delegation members urged the Chief Minister to roll back the hike in power tariff and cancel the agreements done with private companies. In their memorandum, the delegation members sought restoration of government thermal plants and recruitment of staff in the power sector. They are also against the recruitment on contract.— TNS
