14 booked for attacking 2 cops at Sivian village

They had gone to arrest an accused, identified as Dharamvir Singh, in an assault case. According to information, the suspects, who were present at Dharamvir’s house, attacked the policemen with hockey sticks. Injured Constable Amandeep Singh said, “I, along with SI Gurdas Singh, had gone to the house of Dharamvir Singh at Sivian village on November 2. Earlier, the Baillianwali police had booked 22 persons for attacking police officials at Daulatpura village.

They had gone to arrest an accused, identified as Dharamvir Singh, in an assault case. According to information, the suspects, who were present at Dharamvir’s house, attacked the policemen with hockey sticks. Injured Constable Amandeep Singh said, “I, along with SI Gurdas Singh, had gone to the house of Dharamvir Singh at Sivian village on November 2. He was also present at his house. When we reached there, Dharmvir, Ajmer Singh, Manpreet Singh, Gurtej Singh and 10 unidentified persons attacked us with hockey sticks.” SI Gurdas Singh said, “We had gone to arrest Dharamvir, who is an accused in a case of beating up a woman. But, the accused and his associates misbehaved with the police. They also beat Constable Amandeep Singh. Later, they fled the spot.” On the statement of Amandeep, a case under Sections 353, 186, 332, 427, 148 and 149 of the IPC has been registered at the Thermal police station. The police have started conducting raids to arrest the accused. Last month, a Bathinda police team, which went to Desu Jodha village in Haryana to arrest the accused in a drug case, was attacked by villagers. Earlier, the Baillianwali police had booked 22 persons for attacking police officials at Daulatpura village.
