Bathinda, December 10Members of the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) staged a protest and burnt an effigy of the Union Government to express their resentment over alleged human rights violations in the country. The protesters demanded revocation of the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). The march was taken out by union members to mark the International Human Rights Day, which is observed every year on December 10. Parkash Singh, finance secretary of the RMPI, Bathinda unit, said: “Awarding citizenship on the basis of religion will foment communal tensions in the country. They said a protest would be carried out by trade unions and workers’ unions against the Union Government for its neo-liberal policies on January 8.
