Bohag Bihu dance brings flavour of Assam to MP

Bohag Bihu, also known as Rangoli Bihu, is a famous festival which is celebrated among the people of North East India especially in Assam. It was harvest time in Bhopal again, when around 20 artistes of Assam presented their folk dance Bohag Bihu , dressed in their beautiful traditional costume of the festival, at an event in Tribal Museum. Rugala is performed to celebrate the harvest mostly done at the beginning of the spring season. The festival symbolises the New Year or the heralding of yet another successful year of harvest.In the second performance of the evening, tribal group from Meghalaya performed the Rugala folk dance, depicting the lifestyle of people associated with farming and animal husbandry.
