BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan demanded that increase in Centre's share of various schemes and financial assistance should be made in proportion to increase in population during the last few years. He was speaking at the meeting of Niti Aayog held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Sunday.He said MP made remarkable efforts to sustain green cover and to increase it at the cost of development in the past. He demanded that MP must be given additional amount in the form of green bonus to accelerate the pace of overall development in the state.Earlier, Chouhan met Union minister for finance Piyush Goyal. During the half an hour long meeting, Chouhan put forth a demand for additional financial assistance for the state. He urged that the state needs additional financial assistance from the Centre to protect farmers from heavy loss owing to the bumper agriculture production in the state. It may be mentioned that bumper production of gram, summer moong, urad and soybean in the state has caused this problem.Chouhan has informed Goyal that GST amount of Rs 1,096 crore for the month of April and May has not been reimbursed by the Centre till now. He requested that the amount be released immediately. Along with this, he expressed concern over financial assistance for Nafed and the pending payment with Nafed.
