MP: 12000 guest teachers seek permission for euthanasia

BHOPAL: Around 12,000 college guest teachers have demanded the governor to grant her permission for euthanasia alleging that the state government failed to address several issues including cancellation of assistant professors exam by PSC A delegation of guest teachers will try to meet governor Anandiben Patel in this regard. Guest teachers fear they would lose their job, if the government continues with recruiting college teachers through PSC.Guest faculty association president Devraj Singh said recruitment of assistant professors through the PSC would put guest teachers in trouble. “3,000 guest teachers will have to sit at home. We will not let it happen. Thousands of lives will be affected by the decision,” said Singh. He demanded that a specific policy be drawn up for the guest faculty.“There are around 12,000 guest teachers, including 6,000 female teachers across the state. Instead of regularising them, the state government announced recruitment of assistant professors through PSC,” Singh said.He also objected to the MPPSC decision to raise the maximum eligibility age.“PSC has set the maximum age limit of 44 for candidates. There is no Hindi paper in the exam. It is all happening to favour someone,” alleged Singh. He alleged that the PSC has even omitted interview part from the exam process.He alleged that guest teachers were not even allowed to stage protest. “We were protesting at the Neelam Park. On Wednesday, two teachers were admitted forcibly to the hospital. Those female teachers came back to the park. Meanwhile, police removed our tent from the venue,” alleged Singh. Guest teachers said that are left with no option. “No one is listening to us,” said Singh.Earlier in February, guest teachers of government colleges had tonsured their heads. Women teachers had also polished shoes to protest against the government’s alleged apathy. Singh alleged the government was playing with their lives.
