BHOPAL: Congress has decided to counter chief minister's ambitious "Jan Ashirwad" Yatra by holding a "pol khol" yatra, in which it will hold public meetings at the same places where Shivraj Singh Chouhan would speak about his achievements.The yatra will take off from Tarana town in Ujjain on July 18. State Congress chief Kamal Nath will flag off the yatra. Shivraj Singh Chouhan will begin his "Jan Ashirwad Yatra" from Ujjain on July 14.State Congress media in-charge Manak Agrawal, while confirming that the yatra is scheduled to begin from Tarana town of Ujjain district from July 18, said that after the yatra is flagged off by Kamal Nath, various top leaders of the party in their respective regions would lead the yatra. He said that details of the yatra would be disclosed at a press conference on Friday. A senior Congress leader, however, said that local Congress leaders would keep a tab of what chief minister says at public meetings during his yatra and in subsequent public meetings of the Congress, truth of his claims would be exposed by the top leaders."The chief minister has certain groups of people in mind. Farmers, women, students, labourers of the unorganized sector and government employees are the most prominent among them. In his public meetings, he would speak of welfare schemes being implemented for these sections, and steps taken to ameliorate their lot. We shall counter those claims with our arguments", he said.If chief minister speaks about legislation to hang a rapist of girls of less than 12 years of age, Congress will tell people about spurt in incidents of rape during his regime, particularly those with the minors.If he speaks about debt at zero percent interest to farmers, Congress will talk about farmers' unrest, their suicide and killing of six farmers in Mandsaur police firing, he said.Congress sources disclosed that Kamal Nath would keep joining the yatra at different points, but responsibility to ensure success of public meetings during the yatra would mainly be of four acting presidents of the party, who come from different regions of the state."In Malwa region, Jitu Patwari would be the key person and as the yatra proceeds towards Nimar, Bala Bachchan would hold the reins, Ramniwas Rawat in Chambal and Surendra Singh Chaudhary in Vindhya region," said a Congress leader.
