Bhopal: A farmer’s son Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar did the state proud by setting a new junior national shooting record. He scored 1173 out of 1200 points. After completion of the event he stood fourth. He had represented Indian team in World Cup organized recently in Germany.Sports minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia congratulated Aishwarya for his achievement. “Our players are not only winning medals but also setting national record. Last year, Chinki Yadav set the national record in pistol shooting. And both are juniors,” said Scindia.Aishwarya had joined the academy in 2015. “We spotted his talent during a selection trial. His consistency has helped him scale new heights at the international meet,” said his coach Vaibhav Sharma.Hailing from a nondescript Ratanpur village in Khargone district with the population of 1500 people, Aishwarya had never thought of making it such big in shooting. “His cousin Navdeep Singh Rathore had joined MP shooting academy in 2007. Aishwarya is inspired by him,” said Vaibhav Raj Singh, cousin of Aishwarya.Youngest among three siblings, Aishwarya was always fond of shooting. “Being the only son of his parents, it was little tough for them to send him out of the village. However, the insistence by Aishwarya forced the parents to allow him to stay at the shooting academy hospital after being selected in the selection trials,” said cousin Vaibha Singh. Aishwara will be participating in the junior world championship which is to be organized later this year.
