Constable's daughter wins international boxing gold medal

BHOPAL: A constable's daughter Divya Pawar of Bhopal won the gold medal at the International Golden Glove Boxing Tournament at Serbia on Monday morning.Pawar, a regular member of MP boxing academy , beat Serbian boxer in the final of 54kg category of the International Golden Glove Boxing Tournament at Serbia.Notably, 13 boxers from India were in the finals of different weight category in the tournament. In the final bout, Divya defeated Serbian boxer 5-0 to clinch the title.Divya's father Jot Singh Pawar is posted in the Bhopal jail department. Divya has been training under the guidance of Chief Coach of the Academy, Roshan Lal. Sports minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia said daughters of Madhya Pradesh have been making the state and the country proud by winning medals in the international competitions.Divya Pawar, a player of Madhya Pradesh State Boxing Academy, had won the bronze medal in AIBA Asian youth Boxing Championship, held in Bangkok (Thailand) in April 2018.Divya has qualified for the World Boxing Championship going to be held in Russia in August.
