BHOPAL: Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav will reach here on Thursday morning. He will be here for the next two days. State Congress president Kamal Nath will also be in Bhopal. Sources in the state Congress say there could be a meeting between Kamal Nath and Akhilesh Yadav. Is an electoral alliance cooking between the Congress and SP?So far, the Congress has been holding talks with BSP supremo Mayawati for a pre-poll alliance in the state before the November assembly elections. The BSP chief is pressing for a combined deal for all three states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Congress in Rajasthan is not keen on an alliance with BSP.Meanwhile, no one was thinking of an alliance with the SP in Madhya Pradesh where the party does not have a seat in the present 14 Vidhan Sabha while BSP has four legislators. Speaking to TOI, SP national secretary and spokesman Abhishekh Mishra said, "I have no information about our party president meeting Kamal Nath. I know he will be in Bhopal for two days meeting party leaders, workers. But have no knowledge of a meeting with Kamal Nath. Meetings electoral alliances don’t take place this way. Why should the SP national president meet Kamal Nath in Bhopal for an electoral alliance?"Abhishekh Mishra claimed that Akhilesh Yadav’s visit for the purpose of giving SP a position as an alternative in the state. "Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have family ties. A lot of people have families in both the states and hence have first hand knowledge and experience about the workings of the SP. Our party president is taking a long view of Madhya Pradesh and trying to position the SP for the future. It is not limited to just assembly polls 2018," Mishra said. The SP spokesman argued that at one tome the SP had as many as seven MLAs in the Madhya Pradesh assembly and one MLA in 2008. "In 2013, we missed two seats by narrow margins,” he claimed. “Presently, the BJP seems to be in a bad position and the chief minister is postponing all local body elections. We feel there is space for a visionary leader like Akhilesh Yadav," he added.Meanwhile state Congress accepted there might be a meeting between Yadav and Kamal Nath on Thursday evening. "There could be a meeting between the two leaders. And a meeting held four months before the assembly elections means that discussions will be about politics of the state," said state Congress media committee chairman Manak Agarwal. Akhilesh Yadav has already met former PCC chief Arun Yadav, sources in the party said.
