Madhya Pradesh GST wing raids Indian partners of Chinese company

Officials found that the online financial transactions made by customers through the Chinese portal were being credited to the account of Mumbai based company, subsequently some amount of money was converted into dollars and transferred to China, its alleged.

BHOPAL: In a major action Madhya Pradesh Goods and Services Tax (GST) investigation wing has raided Indian headquarters of a Chinese e-commerce portal and allegedly detected an evasion of around Rs 15 cr.Action was taken against Mumbai based Sino India Etail Private Limited linked to Chinese’ e-commerce portal shein.in.ADG (GST investigations) Navneet Goyal said they had specific inputs against the company.After due investigations, a 15-member team led by senior intelligence officials Sharad Tripathi and Vibuthi Garg under supervision of assistant director Deepak Agrawal raided Company’s Mumbai office and associated courier service in Jabalpur.Company directors Raju Bangar and Vijay Singh have reportedly surrendered Rs 2 cr as GST after this action and have assured more payments soon, said sources.GST officials say, this company has a turnover of around Rs 300 cr and is an ‘importer on record’ for the Chinese business platform. They had been evading GST for long.Investigators had been tracking the portal and its business model for long. Officials also found that the good ordered online were being delivered at Mumbai airport cargo where they were collected and handed over to courier companies for further deliveries, said the investigating officer adding investigations would continue.
