BJP to immerse Atal’s ashes in all state rivers

BHOPAL: BJP has decided to immerse ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee 's in all rivers of the state. The party will also take out `kalash yatra' in all districts with party workers organising prayer meetings and narrating incidents related to the BJP icon.Party leaders said that state president Rakesh Singh will bring the urn carrying ashes to the state capital on August 21. People across the state would pay their tributes to the departed stalwart, therefore the party is organising `kalash yatra' in all districts".The meeting was attended by Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar, state organising general secretary Suhas Bhagat , MPs, MLAs, cabinet ministers and state office-bearers. After all he was born in Gwalior and had a deep connect with the state. "Atalji was an icon and prayer meetings will be organised in all district where people will pay their homage to the departed leader.

"The party has called an all-party meeting to pay tributes to the BJP stalwart at Lal Parade Ground on August 21 at 4 pm.Another condolence meeting will be held in Gwalior, Vajpayee's hometown, on August 22 at Phoolbaug Maidan at 4 pm", said BJP state media in-charge Lokendra Parashar.A meeting of BJP state office-bearers convened at chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan 's official residence discussed the plan for `kalash yatra' in all districts. Party leaders said that with elections barely three months away, condolence meetings for former PM should be organised at all district offices from August 22 to 25. "Atalji was an icon and prayer meetings will be organised in all district where people will pay their homage to the departed leader. A condolence meeting will also be held in Bhopal where members of all political and social groups will pay tribute to the great leader", said chief minister Chouhan.As part of the `kalash yatra', Atal Smriti Sabha (Atal memorial meetings) will be held in villages where people will be told about Vajpayee’s life and achievements, a BJP leader said. “We want to keep Vajpayee’s memory alive as this will benefit the party during the elections. After all he was born in Gwalior and had a deep connect with the state. A public meeting will also be held at Lal Parade ground for paying tributes to Vajpayee," he said.BJP Rajya Sabha member Prabhat Jha said, "Atalji was a global figure and a political icon.
