BHOPAL: A gangrape accused, who was absconding for past two months, was found hanging from a tree in Shivpuri district on Tuesday morning.Body of Nandu, 31, resident Tikula village under Mohana police station of the district was found hanging from a tree near Lukwasa village.After seeing a body hanging, villagers informed the local police.“It was an unidentified body but three Aadhar cards were found from his pocket. One was of the deceased, while other two were of his wife and son. The deceased, it seems had deliberately kept the Aadhar card for ensuring that he is identified. Prima facie it seems to be a case of suicide.

Subsequently we contacted Mohana police station and came to know that he was an accused in gangrape case and was absconding for the past two months,” Lukwasa police outpost incharge, Badan Singh Pal told TOI.Body was taken for post-mortem and the kin of the deceased were informed about it, he added.“Two persons including the deceased were accused of a gangrape and both were absconding. The deceased, it seems had deliberately kept the Aadhar card for ensuring that he is identified. Prima facie it seems to be a case of suicide. There were no injury marks on his body and his tongue has also come out which generally happens in case of death due to hanging. Detailed investigations are going on,” he said.“The kin who came to receive the body claimed that he was not in touch with the family for the past two months, when he was booked in gangrape case and no one in the family knew about his whereabouts,” he added.
