MP: After Morena, mining mafias shoot at two forest guards in Gwalior

When they were taking these trolleys to their office for further action in the evening, they were ambushed and fired upon from the hillocks and ravines, said sources.

BHOPAL: Close on the heels of a deputy ranger’s murder by mining mafias in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh, two other forest employees were shot at and injured by those ferrying illegally mined stones in Gwalior district.This incident was reported from Gwalior’s Ghatigaon area on Wednesday evening.Victims have been identified forest guard Harivallabh Chaturvedi and Harishchandra Chouhan has been identified as admitted to a private hospital. Police treated it as a murder case, making it the fifth killing of government officials and cops by sand mafia in these parts.The forest department has declared Kushwah a ‘martyr’ and sanctioned financial relief of Rs 10 lakh to his wife, Neelam. In an official release, Morena DFO Dr A A Ansari said that Kushwah was crushed under the wheels of a tractor when he tried to stop it.
