Congress ‘vachan patra’ likely to be released at party convention BHOPAL: Congress banners calling Rahul Gandhi a "Shiv Bhakt" and announcing the party's poll promises on - jobs, women safety, cheap power and religious tourism in MP - have sparked a political row ahead of the party president's visit to Bhopal.Congress is going all out to turn Rahul's road show into a show of strength in the state capital. It's Rahul's maiden visit to Bhopal since taking over as AICC president. He last came in May 2013, when his interaction with a child newspaper vendor had made national headlines.The 'Shiv Bhakt' hoardings have been put up by Congress corporator from BHEL , Girish Sharma, but they seem to have the sanction of the state leadership, which went all out to defend it. It will pass through Royal Market, Peer Gate, VIP Road Circle, Polytechnic Square, Roshanpura Square, Apex Bank, Board Office Square, Chetak Bridge, Anna Nagar and end at BHEL Dussehra Maidan, where he is scheduled to address a convention of party cadres.The Congress president is likely to stop at 10 different places to accept greetings from party workers and common people.The route is decked up with Congress flags, posters and hoardings showing Rahul with state Congress leaders, and announcing the party’s poll promises: kisan ka karza maaf (loan waiver for farmers), bijli bill half (electricity bill halved), rozgar, protection of women, and, the latest from Kamal Nath, developing MP as a religious destination.The Congress ‘letter of pledge’ (vachan patra) is likely to be released at the party’s convention.The roadshow will take at least three hours, triggering traffic jams along the way. After the convention at BHEL Dussehra Ground is over, the crowd rushing out of the city is likely to plunge it back in chaos.
