BHOPAL: After a massive road-show in the state capital, AICC president Rahul Gandhi on Monday invigorated party workers with his speech and assurances. Whoever is the chief minister or minister, if his door is not open for workers, then he won't be chief minister or minister for 15 minutes. BHOPAL: After a massive road-show in the state capital, AICC president Rahul Gandhi on Monday invigorated party workers with his speech and assurances. Two months before the assembly elections, state Congress workers were bestowed respect and priority while leaders were given a strong message that they would have "to fight a united war to defeat the BJP" and tickets will go to those who "work hard" and "take the lathis while in Opposition"."Till the elections, Congress party will fight together and fight united to defeat the BJP," he said answering a question on factional politics that came from a Congress worker. Factionalism has been the state Congress' greatest drawback in the 2008 and 2013 assembly polls. He also said that tickets will be distributed in time and to workers, not para-droppers."While in the opposition, workers conduct the meetings and play the role of the opposition. They also take the lathis (police batons). And before elections, there are para-droppers. One will say he was in the Congress 15 years ago, another will say he was attached to the party 25 years ago. Para-droppers are welcome but tickets will go to workers. Whoever has come today to the party will have to work for five to six years and then we can talk about candidature for polls."Out of power for three terms and constantly battered by factional politics within the party, what Rahul Gandhi spoke was music to the ears for Congress workers, office-bearers and even people's representatives from the local bodies to the state assembly.Amid applause and slogan shouting, Rahul Gandhi ascertained, "MP is in the mood for a change. The transformation shock is not in 220 volts, but 440 volts. And when government is formed, my first responsibility is towards the people of Madhya Pradesh and second responsibility towards the workers of my party. Whoever is the chief minister or minister, if his door is not open for workers, then he won't be chief minister or minister for 15 minutes."Rahul reiterated what he said in the March Plenary Session: "For years, party workers have been saying their hard-work should yield results and that, now, is my responsibility."
