Cabinet nod to construction of new MP Bhawan in Delhi

Congress state media committee vice-president Bhupendra Gupta said, there are already two bhawans of MP in New Delhi, including MP Bhawan and Madhyanchal Bhawan. After the completion of Rs 650 crore new Vallabh Bhawan annexe, state has approved construction of a new MP Bhawan in Chanakyapuri , New Delhi.Spread over an one acre, the new MP Bhawan will have state-of-the-art facilities and will be built at a cost of Rs150 crore. Officials said the current MP Bhawan is a 55-year-old building located at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordolai Marg in Chanakyapuri. Officials said the current MP Bhawan is old and does not have modern-day facilities. Congress, however, raised eyebrows over the construction of new MP Bhawan and accused the government of wasting tax payers' money, while BJP called it a necessary expenditure considering the future needs of Madhya Pradesh.

After the completion of Rs 650 crore new Vallabh Bhawan annexe, state has approved construction of a new MP Bhawan in Chanakyapuri , New Delhi.Spread over an one acre, the new MP Bhawan will have state-of-the-art facilities and will be built at a cost of Rs150 crore. The state cabinet gave its nod for the project on Tuesday, but preferred not to publicise it.MP Bhawan houses senior officers, MLAs, ministers and chief minister during their official visits to the national capital. Officials said the current MP Bhawan is a 55-year-old building located at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordolai Marg in Chanakyapuri. The new Bhawan would be built on a different land in the area.State's general administration department has completed formalities for the purpose and a detailed report of the project has been finalised. Earlier, in principal approval was given by the cabinet for the project while a day ago, the final approval was granted. Officials said the current MP Bhawan is old and does not have modern-day facilities. This forced officials and leaders to stay at hotels or other locations during their Delhi visit."The new MP Bhawan will have 115 rooms of different categories, besides, dormitories and conference rooms equipped and will be ready in over a year", said officials.Meanwhile, the new annexe of Vallabh Bhawan is ready and will likely by inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 25. The mantralaya, including the new building, is spread over an area of 9 lakh square feet. The original building would be called as VB1 and two new annexes will be called as VB2 and VB3. Congress, however, raised eyebrows over the construction of new MP Bhawan and accused the government of wasting tax payers' money, while BJP called it a necessary expenditure considering the future needs of Madhya Pradesh. Congress state media committee vice-president Bhupendra Gupta said, there are already two bhawans of MP in New Delhi, including MP Bhawan and Madhyanchal Bhawan. There is a financial crisis in MP and government should avoid wasting public money. Future works should be left on next government, he added.Rejecting Congress allegation, party state spokesperson Rajneesh Agrawal said, government is a constitutional body and it would continue to work on its vision of new MP.
