Innovative Dussehra fireworks set to dazzle

BHOPAL: Preparations for Dussehra reached feverish pace in the city for a spectacular show of Ram Lila and burning of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhakaran effigies at eight locations across the state capital.Like last year, the Hindu Utsav Samiti of Kolar will burn the tallest effigy of Ravana — 105 feet. The effigy, stuffed with all types of crackers and clourful lights, will be a source of great joy for children and adults alike.Ravindra Yeti, secretary of the samiti, said, “We had the tallest effigy of Ravana in the state for last eight years. A team of artistes from Rajasthan comes to make effigies of Ravan, Meghnath and Kumbakaran for us. We expect a turnout of more than 1.5 lakh persons at Vanjari maidan.”A team of Russian artistes will also enthrall audience on Dussehra with traditional Indian dances along with artistes of Rewa performing Ram Lila right before Ravana Dahan.The effigies will also be burnt at Chhola maidan, Bittan Market and BHEL Dussehra ground, but effigies will be comparatively smaller in size.Kailash Degwani, secretary of Chhola Dussehra maidan, said, “This year we are trying to do something innovative. Colourful and louder fireworks making patterns in sky will be a big attraction for citizens. This year, we have made a 61-feet effigy of Ravana and 51-feet high effigies of Meghnath and Kumbhakaran.”Decreasing the height of the effigy of by one foot, Rakesh Vyas, president of Bittan Market Dussehra Utsav Samiti said, “The high GST has led us to decrease height of the Ravan effigy.
