Suicide bid by rape survivor & hubby after accused gets bail

They were counselled and released.Investigation officer SI Rajesh Singh said that the couple came to Bhopal on Tuesday and checked into a hotel in Chhavni area near Bhopal railway station. They left their child in Jabalpur and fled to Bhopal, police said. They consumed poisonous substance in a suicide attempt. He was released recently and they were worried about their life.

BHOPAL: 28-year-old rape survivor and her husband attempted suicide by consuming poison on Tuesday.The couple, who live in Jabalpur, were afraid after the rape accused was released from jail and fled to Bhopal They were taken to Hamidia hospital and discharged after treatment.Mangalwara police on Wednesday, acting on the information of hospital registered a case on charges of attempt to suicide against the couple and arrested them. They were counselled and released.Investigation officer SI Rajesh Singh said that the couple came to Bhopal on Tuesday and checked into a hotel in Chhavni area near Bhopal railway station. They consumed poisonous substance in a suicide attempt. When their condition worsened they called the hotel staff, who took them to the hospital.The couple told the doctors that they were having severe abdominal pain after they consumed poison. The hospital management informed Bajaria police.When the couple’s condition improved in the evening they were discharged from hospital and handed over to police.As the Chhavni area falls in jurisdiction of Mangalwara police the case was transferred there.SI Singh said that during counselling the woman told police that a month ago she had filed a case on charges of rape against a person at Ranjhi police station in Jabalpur.The accused was arrested and sent to jail. He was released recently and they were worried about their life. They left their child in Jabalpur and fled to Bhopal, police said.
