Fun & facts mark Children’s Day in MP

Four street plays on child rights were performed at different locations in the district. To mark Children’s Day, The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund organised a series of programmes under ‘Go Blue for every Child’ campaign on Wednesday.The aim of the programme was to sensitize around 30,000 people on child rights and issues surrounding it in Harda. Through the medium of stories, people were made aware about the issues of child health, vaccination, child labour, child education and involvement of children in decision making. Issues incorporated by these young film-makers comprise struggles of daily life like child health education, child labour, drug abuse, stories of social discrimination depicted as popular fiction. This initiative is supported by 18 youth, who are empowering the youngsters with skills of film-making.

Apart from this, flash moves, a Kabaddi match, a cricket match for girls, painting competitions were organized at different locations.CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan conveyed his best wishes to the children and tweeted:“I hope every kid of this country is educated with a successful future and prosperous destiny.”As part of the celebrations, a unique project titled ‘18’ was launched wherein 18 first-time young film-makers from Bhopal, Itarsi and Jhabua will work on producing films on critical issues. This initiative is supported by 18 youth, who are empowering the youngsters with skills of film-making. Issues incorporated by these young film-makers comprise struggles of daily life like child health education, child labour, drug abuse, stories of social discrimination depicted as popular fiction. The project is being facilitated by CSOs ANSH Happiness Society, Vikas Samvad, Bharat Calling and Vasudha Samiti in partnership with UNICEF “These adolescents are part of the work that UNICEF and its partners do. The new approach is surely working,” said Communication Specialist Anil Gulati. The films will be showcased on November 21.Friendship bands for cops: As part of ChildLine Friendship Week children of Nirbhaya Group tied friendship bands to Raghvendra Sharma, chairperson Madhya Pradesh Commission for Protection of Child Rights on Wednesday. Sharma interacted with children telling them about the freedom struggle. Children also tied friendship bands to SP MP Nagar Crime Branch SP Rahul Lodha, ADSP D K Kaushal and police station in-charge of TT Nagar, Alok Shrivastav, who congratulated children on their unique initiative.Poetry, song & dance at Bhopal Jail: Children’s Day was celebrated at the women’s ward of the Bhopal Central Jail as members of NGO Prison Ministry India organised competitions for the children of the inmates.The kids recited poetry and sang songs, dancing to their heart’s content with their mothers. Prisoners also had a great time celebrating the day with their children.Kids set Kalankur stage on fire: Around 25 children mesmerized the audience as part of Kalankur, an event for child artists at Baithak-The Art House on Children’s Day.The even gave a platform for the children to showcase their talents in music, dance, poetry and painting.
