Loot filed as extortion case, SP asks MP Nagar SHO to come clear

He works at a multiplex at a mall in MP Nagar. Her husband runs a mobile shop in MP Nagar. He said a case of loot was registered on victim’s complaint. A case on charges of extortion under section 384 of IPC was registered against the accused.

BHOPAL: Two loot cases were reported in the city in the past 24 hours.Two unidentified bikeborne accused allegedly waylaid a multiplex manager and his colleague near Chetak Bridge while they were returning home walking early Thursday morning and pointed a knife at them. The accused robbed their wallet containing cash and ran away with it.Despite a clear loot case, MP Nagar police registered an extortion case against the accused on victim’s complaint. SP (South) Rahul Kumar Lodha told TOI when the matter came to his knowledge, he issued a show-cause notice to SHO MP Nagar asking him to explain why a case under sections of loot was not registered.SHO MP Nagar Upendra Bhati said victim Akash Arora , 24, hails from Allahabad and presently lives in a rented accommodation in Kasturba Nagar near Chetak Bridge. He works at a multiplex at a mall in MP Nagar. His colleague Banshilal lives with him in the same house.Akash told police they were returning home walking after completing their shift. Around 2.15 am when they reached the Chetak Bridge two bike-borne accused waylaid them. One of the accused pointed knife at him and asked them to hand over their wallets.SHO Bhati said after taking the cash which contained Rs 1300, both accused fled towards Board office Square on their bike. Akash then called on Dial-100 and informed the police about the incident. Immediately a Dial-100 FRV deployed at Board Office Square reached the spot and rushed them to police station. A case on charges of extortion under section 384 of IPC was registered against the accused. SHO Bhati said that police were trying to search the accused on basis of bike registration number given by victim in complaint. He said that the FIR was registered under section of extortion on basis of crime incident mentioned by victims.In another case reported at Govindpura police station on Wednesday evening, two unidentified bike-borne accused snatched a gold chain worth Rs 45,000 from a 30-year-old woman when she was going to temple along with her 5-year-old son in Rachna Nagar.SHO Govindpura Ashok Parihar said victim Swati Dayal Lalchandani, 30, wife of Lokesh Lalchandani, a resident of Rachna Nagar, is a housewife. Her husband runs a mobile shop in MP Nagar. She alleged that when she and her 5-year-old son were going to Sai temple in the colony around 7:30 pm, two men were standing near temple. One was on a bike and the other one was standing next to bike. As she passed beside from the spot, one accused snatched her gold chain worth Rs 45000 and sped away from the spot.She tried to resist, but chain broke and a small part fell on ground and the other remained in hands of accused. He sat on bike and then both fled the spot.SHO Parihar said police obtained a CCTV footage and trying to nab the accused. He said a case of loot was registered on victim’s complaint.
