After Congress leaders across the country fried pakoras to protest against the growing unemployment in the country, it is now BJP MLA from Bhopal Central Surendra Nath Singh turn to try a hand at pakora-making to draw the attention of voters towards the saffron party's initiatives. Surendra Nath, during his poll campaign in the constituency, fried pakoras and also distributed them among party workers and others. Singh was trying to highlight his party's initiative to make people self-dependent. Even party workers were overheard saying that `frying pakora is an art' which every leader cannot perform perfectly.Girijashankar back in BJP: Former BJP MLA Girijashankar Sharma, who had joined Congress four years back after being denied ticket, rejoined the saffron party in the presence of national vice-president and state in-charge Vinay Sahasrabuddhe. Girjashankar had won his first assembly election as BJP candidate in 2003 from Itarsi. He was again fielded by the party from Hoshangabad seat in 2008 and emerged victorious. However, in 2013 when the Itarsi seat was merged with Hoshangabad due to delimitation, BJP dropped Girjashankar and fielded his brother Sitasaran Sharma from Hoshangabad seat. Unhappy with the change, Girjashankar had launched a tirade against illegal sand mining in Budhni area. He had also sought ticket from Congress, but failed. Finally, he has decided to return to BJP.Raje’s son Akshay campaigns for mom: In Chambal region, candidates of royal families still enjoy influence among voters and have their sway too. In Shivpuri assembly constituency, voters are attracted towards a new young campaigner from the royal blood, Akshay Bhansali, who is son of sports minister and member of Scindia clan Yashodhara Raje. Akshay has come from the United States to campaign for his mother. A young campaigner, Akshay is actively participating in roadshows organised for his mother and planning public rallies to woo voters. Recently, his presence was felt at the inauguration of Raje’s poll office. Raje has also clarified that her son is busy in his business in the US and has come only to campaign for her.
