BHOPAL: A team of Shahjehanabad police, including three women constables of Maitri-Squad, was allegedly attacked by a pet dog when it had gone to arrest a minor girl near Nevri temple on Thursday afternoon. The girl’s family members allegedly unleashed the dog on the cops and it bit a woman constable on her leg.A case was registered against four family members on charges of using criminal force to deter public servant from discharging duty and negligent conduct with respect to animal. They were arrested. SHO Shahjehanabad, Shailendra Mukati, said that the minor girl along with her mother and two brothers was accused of assaulting their neighbour couple in August. Her mother and two brothers were formally arrested in that case earlier, but were later released on bail. The girl was yet to be arrested in the case.Mukati said that a police team, led by investigation officer SI Subodh Gautam, had gone to arrest the minor girl. As the team reached the spot, the girl’s family members allegedly created hurdles for police in discharging their duty. Her sister and brothers started abusing the police.When the cops asked about the girl, her mother unleashed the dog and directed it to attack the cops by pointing at them. The dog bit Nidhi, posted in the Maitri Sqaud.The family created a ruckus in which another woman constable sustained injuries, said Mukati.However, speaking to TOI, the mother of the minor girl denied the charges. She said that she had submitted some certificates to her daughter, which prove that the girl was a minor. The girl’s mother said her daughter was not present at home on Thursday when the cops came and had assured police that she would report to the police station . She even claimed that do not have any pet dog and the a stray dog near their house might have bit the constable.
