Six ministers had failed to cash in on home advantage in 2013

Like minister Vijay Shah and Bhupendra Singh got only 40% votes at home polling booths, ministers Narottam Mishra, Yashodhara Raje, Rajendra Shukla and Rampal Singh got only 42% votes at home polling booths. Court however ruled against EC and allowed Mishra to contest polls. Another appeal has been made by Rajendra Bharti before apex court. All these ministers are again in the fray this time.The ministers are considered close to the chief minister and held prominent portfolios in the government, while Bhupendra Singh was home minister, Vijay Shah was school education minister, Narottam Mishra was legislative affairs minister, Yashodhara Raje was sports minister, Rajendra Shukla was mining minister and Rampal Singh was revenue minister.Among these, Narottam Mishra had to recently move courts after EC had disqualified him from contesting polls while hearing a petition filed by former Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti alleging that Mishra had used paid news in 2008 polls.

BHOPAL: At least six ministers from Shivraj Singh cabinet had faced rejections from 60% voters in their home polling booths during the 2013 elections.EC data analysed by TOI reveals that barring chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and a couple of others, majority of the cabinet ministers got less than 50% votes at native polling booths.In a clean sweep at his home polling booth at Jait in Budhni, Chouhan got 99% votes in 2013 assembly polls, followed by Chouhan was minister Gopal Bhargav who got 84% votes in his home polling booth, and then Paras Chand Jain who managed to get 67% votes at his home polling booth in Ujjain.Only six people voted against Chouhan in Jait’s polling booth in 2013 polls.
