Is BJP’s 2018 Drishti Patra more of the same promises?

There was no separate sector for law and order and policing in 2018 manifesto and it was merged with other sectors. In power sector, it made four promises in 2008 that went up to 11 in 2013 and further to 13 this time. In urban sector, including housing and other basic facilities, it made two promises in 2008. BHOPAL: The BJP manifesto released on Saturday seems to be old wine in a new bottle, as the document includes most of the promises that the party had made in 2013 and e 2008. In 2008, it had come up with department-wise manifesto and in 2013, it released Jan Sankalp Patra and made sector-wise promises.In 2018, the BJP has come up with Drishti Patra (vision document) classifying sectors with sub-heads in each sector, apart from a separate manifesto for women.

BHOPAL: The BJP manifesto released on Saturday seems to be old wine in a new bottle, as the document includes most of the promises that the party had made in 2013 and e 2008. In 2008, it had come up with department-wise manifesto and in 2013, it released Jan Sankalp Patra and made sector-wise promises.In 2018, the BJP has come up with Drishti Patra (vision document) classifying sectors with sub-heads in each sector, apart from a separate manifesto for women. But what BJP had promised in the last two elections has been by and large repeated in the 2018 document.A quick glance at the party’s last three election manifestos reveals that the poll promises made by BJP are increasing with each election even though the party claims that is has fulfilled majority of its promises. In 2008, BJP had mentioned five points for farmers in its manifesto, which increased to 58 points in 2013, while in 2018 it has reached 80 points, all for the welfare of agriculture sector and farmers in the state. For women, there were just two points in its 2008 manifesto that rose to 28 promises in 2013 and has now gone up to 50 promises in 2018.Similarly for youths, BJP had made around 25 promises in 2008 that went up to 50 promises in 2013, while in 2018 it has risen to 70.For industries, the BJP made six poll promises in 2008 that increased to 34 in 2008 manifesto which has now reached 40 in this election. In power sector, it made four promises in 2008 that went up to 11 in 2013 and further to 13 this time. In urban sector, including housing and other basic facilities, it made two promises in 2008. It went up to 22 in 2013 assembly elections and has risen to 36 in this manifesto.In the health and family welfare sector, the government made five promises in 2008 that went up to 23 promises in 2013, while in 2018 it has gone upto 60 poll promises.There were three promises in transportation sector in 2008 that went to 14 in 2013 and to 17 in 2018. This also includes a dedicated port to increase trade possibilities. In religious trust and endowment sector, BJP made one promise in 2008 that went up to 32 promises in 2013 polls, which has, however, decreased to around 30 this time.In law and order or home department, it made four promises in 2008 that went to 21 in 2013 polls. There was no separate sector for law and order and policing in 2018 manifesto and it was merged with other sectors.
