Anand Singh Kushwaha , a tea seller, is another interesting candidate, who does not flinch from contesting election. He was in fray on many occasions in the past. He is contesting from Gwalior South constituency, this time.Despite losing every time, Kushwaha, (49), had been contesting since 1994. For Kushwaha, election is an election, whether it is of a civic body, legislative assembly, Lok Sabha or even if it is for electing the president. Barring few intervals, he had contested elections.His nomination was rejected four times for presidential polls as he could not garner support of MLAs, which is a prerequisite. “This time I am hopeful people will elect me. There is an air of change in the area this year,” Kushwaha told TOI. The first time he threw his hat in poll arena was for Gwalior Municipal Corporation (GMC). He had contested corporator's election on a BSP ticket. “In first election I fought against Narayan Singh Kushwaha, who later became MLA and is a cabinet minister in the present government,” he said.Given Kushwaha’s presevereance, family members who initially raised objection, later relented, “Everyone faces opposition, but I am clear about my objective. Now, no one objects. During polls, my wife Ganga runs the tea stall,” he said. tnn
