BHOPAL: Rubbishing suicide theory, Congress on Monday alleged that local RTI activist Manoj Tripathi was pushed to death from a terrace of his apartment . Tripathi, who had gone on terrace in night of November 4 was later found on the ground in front of his apartment. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a city hospital on Sunday. At a press conference, Congress national spokesperson, Priyanka Chaturvedi , alleged that the “hasty manner” in which police are trying to give the incident a colour of suicide raised suspicion that there was something more to it meet the eye.She said Tripathi on October 29 had filed a complaint against BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma accusing him of encroaching upon 7,000 sq ft of government land and was constructing a swimming pool and a lawn on it. He had attached documents which was received through RTI to substantiate his charge.Chaturvedi said the police claim that Tripathi was drunk and had a fight with his wife before the incident had been contradicted by the wife and family members of the deceased. Besides, it is strange that a group of policemen were at the spot of the incident even before close relative of Tripathi, Anjani Pandey, whom his wife called over phone for help, could reach there.Demanding a time-bound CBI probe into the incident, she added that if it was not recommended by the incumbent government, Congress would do it when the party comes to power.Referring to alleged rape and stalking of a girl by a BJP leader from Vidisha, Dr Piyush Saxena, Chaturvedi said police might have registered a case against him under relevant sections of POCSO, IPC and IT Act, but it also gave him time to run away. She said the girl was being sexually exploited by this influential leader having links in BJP and RSS despite she was a minor and yet the BJP has been “soft” on him.She said Dr Saxena has only been suspended from the party for six years and not expelled for life as usually would be the course of action against a person involved in such a heinous crime. She also referred to a minister in UP government, who is in jail on charges of rape with a minor, but has not even been suspended from the party. No wonder Madhya Pradesh is on top in the country in terms of rape and crimes against women, she said.
