Congress broke promises, now spreading lies, says Shivraj Singh Chouhan

BHOPAL: Intensifying attack on the opposition Congress during the last week of poll campaigning in Madhya Pradesh , chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Monday that on this auspicious day, when people are celebrating 'Dev Diwali', a day when god Vishnu is believed to be waking up, Congress will go to sleep after the polls."Today is Dev Uthni Gyaras, an auspicious day when god Vishnu will wake up from his sleep. This will mark the beginning of celebrations and 'good works'. But, Congress will go to sleep," said Chouhan addressing a poll meeting in Devri assembly seats of Sagar district Chouhan said that development works undertaken by the BJP were more than what Congress had done in last 70 years. He also addressed gatherings in Chhatarpur Naugaon and Bamitha.Chouhan's Bundelkhand tour was aimed at countering the growing influence of Samajwadi Party in parts of the region. Sources within the BJP said that apart from Niwari, the SP has also gained public support in Bijawar and Jatara.Attacking Congress for allegations against his family, Chouhan said that Congress is daydreaming about returning to power and to achieve the same, is attacking his family on baseless issues. He said Congress campaign is based on farce and the party was spreading lies."Congress has a habit of telling lies and breaking promises. They make tall claims but all promises made by them were fulfilled by the BJP government. The promise to alleviate poverty was made by the then Prime Minsiter Indira Gandhi but Congress failed to fulfill it,", said Chouhan.He further said that Congress was anti-farmer. The party compelled farmers to draw loan on heavy interest rates but it was BJP who brought relief to them. Addressing a gathering in Palera village of Tikamgarh district, the chief minister said that he had travelled the area on a motorcycle long back and the road was pitted and filled with potholes. It took him five hours to reach from Sagar to Bhopal, he said.During the meeting, MP Prahlad Patel and district president of Chhatarpur, Jitendra Singh Bundela were present.
