BHOPAL: Whether Congress keeps its promise of setting up a people’s commission in Madhya Pradesh to audit alleged scams during the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, BJP’s defeat has left some bureaucrats nervous. A few of them have reportedly started sending feelers to Congress netas.Congress leader KK Mishra is not in a forgiving mood. He says he is raring to launch a crusade to expose “overseas investments made by some bureaucrats”, and vows to reopen 100 cases closed by probe agencies during Chouhan’s rule. “I have information from a reliable source inside CM house that a long list of cases to be closed was prepared before counting day. It hardly matters, I have a comprehensive list of cases to be reopened,” Mishra told TOI.The Congress spokesperson claims to have details of certain bureaucrats involved in shell companies. “Once our government starts functioning I will expose them,” he said, adding: “BJP has troubled me a lot and it is payback time.” The Congress government in Madhya Pradesh will have to take a call on the alleged “e-tendering scam”, which is said to be worth Rs 80,000 crore and revolves largely around some blue-eyed bureaucrats. EOW had begun a probe on the orders of Chouhan but no FIR is registered yet.Maintaining that there has been rampant misuse of administrative machinery in the state, Kamal Nath had earlier said that his party would set up a “people’s commission” to probe scams during the 15-year BJP rule. “This will be the first such commission. Wait for seven months, there will be exposes,’’ Nath had said, adding that Vyapam “is not going to be hushed up.”Asked about the People’s Commission, Congress national spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi told TOI that party will strictly adhere to all the promises made to the people of Madhya Pradesh. “We will ensure that each point that we mentioned in the manifesto will be adhered to in totality. All corruption cases will be probed to the depth and accountability fixed,” she said.Hundreds of complaints lodged with Lokayukta and EOW against prominent politicians and bureaucrats in the last 15 years were either closed or put on back burner. Lokayukta had closed investigation into complaints of corruption against some BJP ministers before the 2013 elections. Are they among those Congress may reopen?
