New MLAs told to get tech savvy

BHOPAL: MLAs elected for the new state assembly will have to give their digital signatures. MLAs have also started visiting the state assembly to present copy of the winning certificates.“We have got details from election about each MLA. “We had launched the digital signature process for MLAs two years ago during the mid-session of the last government. Preparations for the new government are in full swing at the state assembly.PRO, Madhya Pradesh state assembly, Ravindra Dubey told TOI that for the first time digital signatures of MLAs are being taken after formation of new government. Even the PAs of each MLA will be given information about it.A help desk has also been set up for MLAs.

BHOPAL: MLAs elected for the new state assembly will have to give their digital signatures. It will help them in sending questions from home also. Preparations for the new government are in full swing at the state assembly.PRO, Madhya Pradesh state assembly, Ravindra Dubey told TOI that for the first time digital signatures of MLAs are being taken after formation of new government. “We had launched the digital signature process for MLAs two years ago during the mid-session of the last government. However, only 100 MLAs used the new technology and sent questions from home. This time we have started the process with the formation of the government itself,” said Dubey.He said after first session a formal workshop will be organised to help each MLA learn about digital signature and sending questions from home if they are out of Bhopal . Even the PAs of each MLA will be given information about it.A help desk has also been set up for MLAs. “It has started functioning from Friday. It will help the new incumbents in all aspects,” said Dubey. MLAs have also started visiting the state assembly to present copy of the winning certificates.“We have got details from election about each MLA. Photographs will be taken for their identity cards and others. Since morning around 30 MLAs have visited us,” said Dubey.The Vidhan Sabha secretariat will begin training for lawmakers followed by the nomination of pro-tem speaker, who will administer oath to the elected speaker and deputy speaker of the House apart from new legislators.To accommodate new lawmakers, the assembly secretariat has made arrangements for 60 additional rooms in the MLA Rest House. Several legislators will get newly furnished rooms after swearing in of council of ministers. Rooms for ministers and chief minister are also being renovated and new facilities are being added. Some rooms were also renovated while 150 rooms in rest house of PWD (public works department), CPA (Capital Project Administration) and other departments have been booked for new MLAs.
