On Day Two, rights activists cry cruelty towards animals

BMC impounded 80 cattle, 13 pigs, 56 dogs on Thursday from Nehru Nagar, Ishwar Nagar, Dana Pani, 74 Bungalows and nearby places. Thereafter, stray cattle owners would penalised for every breach. The government aims at rehabilitating over 10,000 stray cattle in Bhopal city. BHOPAL: On Day Two of civic body’s drive to keep roads and streets clear of stray cattle and canines, animal rights activists on Thursday reached Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters in Mata Mandir area citing cruelty and breach of set protocol in capturing stray dogs. BMC commissioner visited Kanji House on Thursday.A day after acting tough — not releasing cattle after impounding— civic body officials somewhat softened stance on Thursday.
