Bhopal: A day after the recovery of a mummified body from a wooden box in a flat in Vidhya Nagar area, the short post-mortem report confirmed the body was of a woman aged between 55 to 60 years. The report said the body was four-to-five months old. But, so far there is nothing to prove the identity of the body, suspected to be of the house owner Vimla Shrivastava. Her son, Amit, 36, who lived with her is still “missing”.SHO Bag Sewania sub-inspector Rajkumar Dangi said the post-mortem was conducted at AIIMS Bhopal. The cause of death was not clear, but no visible injury marks were seen on the body. DNA sampling of the body was conducted and the viscera sample was sent for examination to the regional forensic laboratory at Sagar. Dangi said that the body was wrapped and kept under 11 mattresses, old clothes were also stuffed over the body and covered with ply-board — over which a mattress was placed. Cops had four queries for the doctors who conducted the autopsy — the cause and time of death, gender and DNA sampling.Cops searched the house again on Monday and found Vimla’s Aadhaar card and passbook, in which no entry was done after 2012. Cops also found a new LPG connection application in the name of Amit with his photo pasted on it. His BU marksheet was also found. In addition, 700 psychotropic tablet wrappers and tables which reportedly Amit consumed were also found. His father, Brijmohan, belonged to Gwalior district and was employed with MP road transportation corporation. After his death, Vimla got the job on compassionate grounds. But, she was given compulsory retirement after the corporation was winded up in 2010.Investigation officer GP Joshi said Amit has not been seen by the neighbours for the past few months. Cops called his cell phone, which was switched off. He said that police will wait till Tuesday evening before conducting the last rites of the body. He said that Vimla’s record was being sourced from her office.Neighbour Durga Prasad, who resides on the same floor, told TOI that he has not seen both Amit and Vimla for the past six months. He said Vimla suffered a paralytic attack and used to remain bed-ridden inside the flat. Amit was addicted to psychotropic tablets and he too remained indoors most of the times.Prasad said that the mother and son never interacted with neighbours. “Once people from Vimla’s office came to the flat for some work, but Amit did not open the door. They returned without meeting her,” he said.
