Now, a farm loan fraud at Gwalior co-operative body

The fresh case was registered on Sunday evening under section 409 (misuse of official position) of IPC against unidentified persons. Bhopal: Another farm loan fraud has come to light following an audit of co-operative society in Gwalior where loans have been withdrawn in the name of more than 300 fake farmers by bank officials and co-operative members.Acting on the complaint of bank officials, olice have registered a case and started investigation in Chinor town of Gwalior district. These anomalies have been detected in the audit conducted by senior officials, after which a complaint was made and a case was registered.

Bhopal: Another farm loan fraud has come to light following an audit of co-operative society in Gwalior where loans have been withdrawn in the name of more than 300 fake farmers by bank officials and co-operative members.Acting on the complaint of bank officials, olice have registered a case and started investigation in Chinor town of Gwalior district. As part of the fraud, loans were given to 1113 people between 2007 and 2017, but in nearly 300 cases it has been found that the farmers on whose names the loans were given are non-existant. Subsequently, a complaint has been made with the police to investigate the fraud. The alleged scam took place at primary co-operative society at Chinor in Gwalior district.Chinor police station incharge Sanjay Baraiya told TOI, “Anomalies to the tune of Rs 6 crore have been found in the loans that have been disbursed since 2007. The co-operative society gives a maximum loan of Rs 1.5 lakh to an individual. These anomalies have been detected in the audit conducted by senior officials, after which a complaint was made and a case was registered. A total of around 1100 people have been provided loan by the co-operative during the said period. How much of it is genuine and how much of it is fake would be found during the detailed investigation. Each farmer will be verified as part of the probe.”Sources said that the co-operative was authorised to give a maximum loan of Rs 1.5 to an individual and initial findings of the audit have revealed that there are anomalies to the tune of Rs 6 crore. It may be noted that in the same society another case was registered last week against several office-bearers for illegal diversion of more than Rs 14 lakh. The fresh case was registered on Sunday evening under section 409 (misuse of official position) of IPC against unidentified persons. More sections of IPC could be slapped if investigation reveals further anomalies, said sources.
