Case filed against MANIT director for threatening complainant

I went to meet him in his office in MANIT.” During conversation, Prof Raghuvanshi lost his cool and started abusing him, he alleged.“Prof Raghuvanshi shouted at me. He opened the door of his office and forced me to get out of the office,” said the complainant.

Bhopal: MANIT director Prof NS Raghuvanshi is in trouble again. A fresh complaint has been filed at Kamla Nagar police station against him for threatening the assistant professor, who had filed a complaint against him under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 earlier this month.Complainant said he has been getting threatening calls ever since police registered FIR against Prof Raghuvanshi. Complainant said even other witnesses were also threatened. "Witnesses are scared and they have also filed complaint against Prof Raghuvanshi," said complainant.The complainant said he was working at MANIT since 2005. “I was promoted as associate professor in 2006. In 2016, I was demoted without citing any specific reason. I raised the issue with director Raghuvanshi. However, he did nothing to address the issue,” said the complainant. TOI possesses a copy of the complaint, he lodged at the police station.He alleged, “The director asked me to meet on September 26, 2018 this year. I went to meet him in his office in MANIT.” During conversation, Prof Raghuvanshi lost his cool and started abusing him, he alleged.“Prof Raghuvanshi shouted at me. When I told him his behaviour was unacceptable, he got furious. He opened the door of his office and forced me to get out of the office,” said the complainant. He said, “I told him I am a senior faculty at MANIT and he should not treat him in this manner. But, he did not listen and went on using caste slurs and abusing me.”When the incident took place, others gathered around the area. “Canteen caretaker, who was there is an important witness,” the complainant said.Repeated efforts were made to contact Prof Raghuvanshi for his comments, but there was no response as his mobile phone was switched off.
