GRP nabs man absconding from Gujarat

Bhopal: A 37-year-old man who was recently granted parole from Ahmedabad jail in connection to the 2009 Lattha incident in Gujarat was arrested by Government Railway Police (GRP) on Tuesday for robbery inside trains.According to GRP, the accused has been identified as Yogendra alias Daddu who hails from Indore. After interrogation, he told police that he went absconding after he was granted parole in the Lattha incident wherein 23 people had died of spurious liquor.Acting on a tip-off, Yogendra was nabbed from Amarkantak Express on February 8 and valuables were recovered from his possession. GRP Police said he often targets ladies bags in AC coaches of trains.Police added that five mobiles, two branded wrist watches, silver coins, gold rings and bangles worth Rs5 lakhs were recovered from the accused.Later in interrogation, the accused revealed that he was granted parole in 2017 after which he did not return to jail and started living in Indore.“The accused was booked in Lattha incident in which 23 people died after consuming poisonous liquor in 2009,” said police.The accused was arrested after CCTV footages showed him stealing in trains.
