Thus, if the data is not uploaded, till the announcement of poll code, it is likely that the farmers of state will be getting the benefits only after the parliamentary polls, added sources. Field-level staff of the revenue department will now identify such families.“State government has issued instructions for the identification of the beneficiaries of the scheme on February 18,” principal secretary revenue, Manish Rastogi told TOI.Sources said that the Union government has laid the onus of identification of the beneficiaries on the state government and it is a herculean task to identify the eligible families, thus it is most likely that the identification process takes more than 15 days and poll code could come into effect any time after 15 days, the first week of March. Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government has issued orders for the identification of small and marginal farmer families, the beneficiaries of the Kisan Samman Nidhi— direct benefit transfer scheme announced recently by Prime Minister under which Rs 6,000 would be paid annually to the families. There are roughly around 50-60 lakh such families which are eligible for the benefits under the scheme in the entire state, but the state government is not having any data regarding these families and the exact numbers would only be clear once the identification is over.On February 11, the Union government issued a letter to all the chief secretaries of states, urging them that ‘data entry should be done at fast pace so that substantial entries are made up to February 20.”Later, on February 14 Union government again issued letters to the chief secretaries, informing that Prime Minister will launch the scheme on February 24, at Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and urging the states to “ensure simultaneous launching of the scheme at state/UT, district as well as block-level.”However, it was only on February 18 that the state government has issued orders for the identification of the families.
